#Ultrasound Findings and Differential Diagnoses for Bilateral Parotitis

Ultrasound Findings:
Enlarged parotid glands with heterogeneous echotexture.
Hypoechoic areas indicating edema or inflammation.
Dilated Stensen's ducts with possible intraductal debris.
Potential abscesses or focal collections in severe cases.

Color Doppler Findings:
Increased vascularity (hyperemia) signifying active inflammation.
Reduced blood flow if significant swelling is present.

Differential Diagnoses:
1. Sialolithiasis: Stones in the salivary ducts causing obstruction.
2. Sjögren's Syndrome: Autoimmune disorder with chronic salivary gland inflammation.
3. Bacterial or Viral Sialadenitis: Infection, commonly from Staphylococcus aureus or mumps virus.
4. Salivary Gland Tumors: Benign or malignant growths presenting with gland enlargement.
5. Granulomatous Diseases: Conditions like tuberculosis or sarcoidosis affecting the salivary glands.
