In this video, I’m taking a look at the Braun MGK3080 beard trimmer and body shaver.

Braun advertises this trimmer and shaver as the ultimate 9-in-1 grooming device for precision styling from head to toe. But, does the Braun MGK3080 grooming kit offer the quality and performance you deserve for your trim?

This beard trimmer is an Amazon Choice Recommendation, ranking at #13 for the category of beard and mustache trimmers. It also holds an impressive 4.4 out of 5-star rating.

Now, I thought it would be valuable if I not only reviewed the Braun MGK3080 beard trimmer and body shaver, but also compared it to the Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000.

These two beard trimming and bodygroom devices have very similar features, with only a $5 price difference between them. It’s likely you’d be choosing between the two for your beard trimming and bodygroom needs.

Accompanying the Braun MGK3080 trimmer itself are a 1mm and 2mm stubble comb, 3-11mm short beard and hair comb and13-21mm long beard and hair comb. This grooming kit also includes a detail trimmer head, ear and nose trimmer head, body groomer, Gillette Fusion ProGlide razor, charging cord, and brush.

You’ll find the Braun MGK3980 trimmer model varying from the MGK3080 only in its inclusion of a protective travel case.

The short and long beard and hair combs of this Braun trimmer provide 13 precision length settings in 2mm increments for achieving a precision beard trim and controlled haircut.

As far as battery life, the Braun MGK3080 uses a Nickel-Metal Hydride battery and requires 1 hour of charge time for 60 minutes of cordless use.

It can be used wet or dry while trimming, in or out of the shower and is fully washable under the tap.

However, the Braun MGK3080 beard trimmer and body shaver can only be used cordless and will not operate while plugged in.

Now, if you take a look at my previous video on the Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000, you’ll notice that these two grooming devices compete in the same multigroom category.

While the Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 introduces a larger, stainless steel body, with rubber control gripping, a Lithium-Ion battery and 23 pieces that will run you close to $60. The Braun MGK3080 beard trimmer and body shaver utilizes a nickel-metal hydride battery, but half the number of pieces while offering higher length settings for your trim at a cost of around $55.

The Braun MGK3080 and the Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000, along with their attachments, are both fully washable.

However, this Braun trimmer requires occasional oiling to maintain the blades, while no oiling is needed for the Philips 7000.

For this trim, I tighten up the beard, get rid of the more pronounced goatee and more evenly trim the beard down to a 2mm stubble finish.

I demonstrate a 13mm, 7mm and 3mm length setting before trimming down to 2mm, to show the length that’s left on the beard. I also trim under the neck line and around the face to get some nice crisp lines.

To finish off, I attach the Braun MGK3080 body shaver, and demonstrate its shaving ability on my chest.

Overall, these are two great multigroom trimmers.
There are pros and cons for each device, so check out the video for my thoughts.

That said, at the end of the day, both trimmers get the job done to meet your beard trimming and bodygroom needs.
