This video introduces you to Web Indexing with FamilySearch to help you get started with your family history work.

The Indexing program lets you type names from old records into a database that people worldwide can use to find their ancestors. The records are scanned documents that include census records, birth certificates, marriage certificates, military registrations, and more.

Once a record is indexed and reviewed the record becomes searchable within FamilySearch and helps everyone find their ancestors. This is a teamwork effort!

2020 UPDATE: Because of the technological advances each batch is no longer indexed by two people, unless it is a difficult type of record (this is not common). Now, the record is Indexed by ONE person and Reviewed by ONE person. Following this the information is submitted into the searchable FamilySearch records database.
