Tennis games for big numbers (example, 8-10 people to a court)
Can be played cooperatively or competitively.
Game 1 = ‘4 A-side Tennis’. Rules
1. hit the ball UP
2. ball can bounce once and must land within the court boundary
3. Players change places clockwise after ball is hit by a member of their team.
Scoring:
1. which court can keep the rally going the longest
2. OR, play first team to win 3 points and rotate teams to place new oppositions.
Game 2 = ‘Grand Slam Sky Ball’
Learn to track a high ball & educate students about the tennis tour. Grand slams = 4 biggest events in tennis and how they work.
Game 3 = ‘Wipe out’
Options:
• every player has a racket
• players put racket in non-dominant hand
• player who loses the point forfeits their racket but remains part of the game (as shown in clip)
• one racket per team is passed from player to player.
Game 4 = ‘Bobsleigh’
- Follow the options for wipe out but player who loses the point sits in the team on court ‘Bobsleigh’.
Game 5 = ‘Round the world’
- Hit and run to the other side
Game 6 = Interceptor
3 a-side game which is great for teaching the volley and for building confidence at the net.
‘Double Trouble’ helps to build the skills needed to play this game better.
