India Budget 2025 LIVE | No Tax Up to Rs 12 Lakh, FM Nirmala Sitharaman's Gift to Middle Class

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her eighth consecutive budget in the parliament on Saturday (Feb 1). The Budget, which has already been approved by the Cabinet, has been welcomed for exempting income tax on pay of up to Rs 12 lakh per annum. Higher exemptions and rejigs have been effected under the new income tax regime. The decision has come at a time when taxpayers as well as analysts were demanding income tax relief for several months owing to rising cost of living.
