STORYLINE:
A few dozen protesters gathered outside Ecuador's Foreign Ministry building in Quito on Wednesday to add their voice to protests over the death of a 22-year-old woman in the custody of Iran's morality police.
The demonstrators held signs and chanted slogans to show their support for ongoing rallies across Iran in light of  Mahsa Amini's death.
"The people in Iran and the Iranian communities around the world are raising their voices to get justice for what happened in Iran," said Ardavan Jamalifard, an Iranian citizen residing in Ecuador.
Thousands of Iranians have taken to the streets over the last weeks in protests over the death of Amini, who had been detained by the morality police in the capital, Tehran, for allegedly wearing her mandatory Islamic headscarf too loosely.
She died in custody; authorities said she had a heart attack but hadn't been harmed, but her family has disputed that, leading to the public outcry.
