First World Youth Day || WYD Lisbon 2023 || Shalom World

Initiated by Pope John Paul II in 1985, the first-ever World Youth Day brought together thousands of passionate young individuals in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1987. The hymn "Un Nuevo Sol," composed by Alberto Croce and Eugenio Perpetua, echoed through the streets, creating an atmosphere of hope and unity. On April 6, Pope John Paul II graced us with his presence, meeting, and blessing all the enthusiastic participants. And on April 12, a historic moment unfolded as over a million people gathered for the closing Mass in front of the iconic Obelisco de Buenos Aires.
