The Chart-topping 'She Gave Us The Song' is a tribute to Joy McKean, the first lady of country music and the wife of Slim Dusty. Joy’s songs are a remarkable legacy and her song writing prowess second to none.

In May 2019, Lee Kernaghan forwarded Garth Porter a draft of some lyrics written by Kelly Dixon that honour the astounding contribution Joy McKean (Slim Dusty’s wife) has made to Australian Country Music.

Garth got to work creating She Gave Us the Song. Garth offered Tom the song to include on his latest album 'We're Still Here', and Lee offered his support and his voice, along with Sara Storer.

This is a tribute to Joy in her 90th year.
