When you uninstall distros like Ubuntu or another Linux distro from WSL: The files stay in place and you don't really get back any space. This video shows you the important command to run as well to properly completely uninstall; whether you're reinstalling or just done with WSL.

wsl -l -v
wsl --unregister NAME

0:20 - Uninstall WSL Distribution in Settings
0:50 - Remove WSL Distribution completely
