More than a month of hard work and preparation culminated in this amazing field trip today....I really cannot say enough great things about this program! A HUGE thank you to the Finance Park (Enterprise Village)- Stavros Institute! This is such a cool place.. We did the 5th grade program and are so glad we could do the 8th grade program too!
To simplify, Enterprise Village is more working in or running a business, and Finance Park is about personal finances and budgeting.
Finance Park is a reality-based, hands-on simulation for students that enables them to build foundations for making intelligent life-long personal finance decisions. After completing the 6-week curriculum at home, the students are prepared to participate in the full-day practical, similar to "The Game of Life." They develop skills in personal finance: savings, investing, budgeting, credit, time management, paying bills, and learn how to acquire, evaluate, organize and maintain information.

WHAT IS FINANCE PARK?
Finance Park is a reality-based, hands-on simulation for students that enables them to build foundations for making intelligent lifelong personal finance decisions. It also allows them to develop a realistic understanding of the economic issues they must deal with upon graduation from high school and in the development of a budget. At the culmination of a six-week, integrated unit in school classrooms, students visit Finance Park to study different financial decisions to be made, consider the options available to them and actually construct a personal budget. To facilitate the simulation, Finance Park focuses on decisions about transportation, investment, home improvement, banking, housing, entertainment, healthcare, utilities, food, home furnishings, clothing and education.
The Finance Park program assists students by allowing them to:
• Develop basic personal finance concepts
• Utilize quality concepts to plan personal finances
• Understand the advantages of saving and investing
• Understand the advantages and disadvantages to using credit
• Allocate time wisely and follow a time schedule
• Work within a group structure to acquire, evaluate, organize and maintain information.
The Finance Park curriculum is designed as a six-week integrated unit to be taught to eighth grade social studies students. At the culmination of this unit, students will visit Finance Park to consider the options available to them in planning a successful personal budget. During this visit, the students will have the opportunity to use these learned experiences by committing to a personally developed budget.
To accommodate the student simulation, the facility is divided into separate areas. Each area deals with different aspect of personal financial responsibility. After determining their actual net monthly income, students will visit each of the areas where they will spend time:
• Determining what expenditure will be best suited for their salary level.
• “Paying their bills” to carry out the appropriate decided upon transactions.
The on-site activities are designed to allow students the opportunity to “put into action” what they learned in the classroom and understand the necessity of and basic steps in putting together a realistic budget. It is anticipated that these experiences will help the student be better prepared for their future and assist in creating educated consumers and financially responsible adults.
