Описание к видео Are you trapped in the FORM over function mindset? | Disc Golf Lessons

What is the end-goal of disc golf? Getting the disc where you want it to go. Form is important, but there is something magic that happens that supersedes form... timing and accuracy can happen even when form is not perfect. So many players are now getting so hung up on "Perfecting the form", or telling others that they are "rounding" or "pour the tea!" that we are missing the end product. Is the disc getting where it needs to go? Yes, you should work on bracing, and lag, and cross-stepping... etc..., but the final question you should ask is... does it get the disc to the basket? Over 30 years of playing I have seen so many different forms and often it was the guy/girl with the ugly form was the one you had to watch out for... they had figured out how to be deadly in spite of having an unusual form. Turns out timing is crucial and form is very helpful in reaching that optimal timing, but in the end the split second of release doesn't really care how your body moved to get it there... so do get so focused on the FORM that you lose the joy and the ability to have fun throwing the disc consistently with what you have to work with. Who out there has the body type, skill set and time to create the perfect throw? Most of use are going to have some form of ugliness baked into our game... the question is... how are you going to be the best with what you have. And don't be that guy that is always telling other folks what is wrong with their form... especially if your game doesn't justify the unasked for critiques. :D Give me the guy that can throw 10 discs in a row at the basket over someone who can throw with perfect form but miss the mark half the time.
