RAM 2500 Towing Review (6.4 HEMI) | Moving Across the Country with my Power Wagon

I Review my 2022 RAM 2500 Power Wagon (6.4 HEMI) while towing across the country. I towed a 9,100 lbs trailer for 14 hours straight with my ram 2500 and I give you my opinion on the trucks towing ability as a heavy duty mechanic. It does very well!

I hope you guys are having a good summer! Good to be back! I took a little vacation from YouTube to get ready for our big move but I'm happy to be back and happy to be at our new place in New Brunswick!

So I figured I would take you guys along for the journey and give you my opinion on how my 2022 ram 2500 power wagon did when towing for long distances. I have towed more weight than this with my truck but that was for a short distance and with this trailer coming in at 9,100 lbs I figured it would be a great test for this truck.

now the first thing I was concerned about was how much the truck was going to squat. these power wagon have soft suspension for off road use and are not really meant to handle large tongue weights. but we had a drop of about 3 inches which I was happy with. anymore then 3 I would of probably taken some weight off the tongue.

in terms of pulling power I was not concerned at all. this exact driveline is rated for 17,000lbs so I was not close to that. but as you guys saw in the video the front end was popped up a little and I was concerned the steering may feel light. but once I got onto the highway the steering felt fine and the truck and trailer actually handled very well and predictable which is exactly what I wanted.

now for the first 10 hours the roads are nice and flat so nothing really to worry about. the truck was pulling at highway speeds very well. usually in 6 gear or 7th gear at around 70mph.

our fuel economy was much better then I anticipated although as we got into the hilly sections that soon dropped like a rock.

once we did get to the Appalachian mountains the HEMI actually got some work. when pulling up the truck liked to be 5th gear right around 4,000 rpm. and at that gearing the truck kept speed just fine.

I was impressed with the transmission temperatures. they stayed almost the same the whole 14 hour journey. the oil temp was also very solid through the 14 hour trip.

all in all the truck did very well for not really being meant to tow. I felt much more in control then when I towed an enclosed trailer with my ram 1500!

Hope you guys liked the video!
