Exploring The Raven Hotel - Droitwich - Abandoned Places UK

The Raven Hotel dates from the 16th Century and is set in the center of Droitwich. It was a popular hotel with 72 bedrooms and numerous conference rooms that served as a great local venue for events and weddings.

The Old Manor House of Wyche, later called Droitwich and known as St. Andrews was built in the Elizabethan age.
It is a delightful timber framed structure with oak beams on the site of an earlier Mediaeval Manor House. In this building, was born one of England's greatest Saints and finest scholars - St Richard de Wyche, or, as he is called in Sussex, St Richard of Chichester. It was also in this house that King Charles 1st lodged for three days in 1645, en route for the storming of the City of Leicester.
In 1879 the Salt King. John Corbett, acquired this property and arranged for its conversion into a hotel, to satisfy the increasing demands for accommodation arising from the growing number of visitors to the famous Brine Baths.
It was called "The Raven Hotel', the Corbett Coat of Arms being a black raven on a gold shield.
