“Gehena” presents a profound testament to the raw and unyielding spirit of black metal, embodying its unique ferocity.
As usual from UPC outbursts, this record is a sonic assault that merges the atavistic roots of black metal with the aggressive intensity often associated with war metal. Its signature sound is characterised by a caustic wall of noise, with a heavy emphasis on bass and percussive elements that underpin the guttural growls typical of the genre. Despite these elements, the album leans more towards black metal rather than fully crossing into war metal territory.

Thematically, the record does not shy away from its hideous left-angle propaganda, delivering a message steeped in absolute devotion to the darker aspects of existence. This thematic focus is not merely an aesthetic choice but a core element that drives the album's identity, evoking a sense of ritualistic fervour as well as exploring of black metal's more esoteric and sinister facets.

“Gehena” shows UPC's unwavering commitment to the harsh and unfiltered expression of darkness, where this specific blend of black and war metal elements, combined with its thematic depth and caustic production, makes it an unapologetically brutal opus to the horned one.
