This year’s Shangri-La Dialogue took place in Singapore in early June and focused on topics such as the disputed South China Sea, security in the Taiwan Strait, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, all of which involve China. U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and PRC Minister of National Defense Dong Jun also met for the first time in over two years on the sidelines of the event. In this episode of Taiwan Talks, we examine the Shangri-La Dialogue, the stances that came out of it, and how Taiwan is involved as a focus of these discussions.
