The CCD police investigation is facing scrutiny after another victim approached the High Court, alleging fake encounters and extrajudicial killings by the Crime Control Department (CCD). The court has sought assistance from the advocate general of Punjab regarding the CCD's legal status and mechanism. The petitioners are seeking a halt to all police encounters in Punjab and an independent inquiry into the encounters conducted by the CCD. ⁴
