This has led to waterlogging in areas such as the Ring Road at ISBT and submerged low-lying localities including Yamuna Bazaar, prompting the relocation of residents to temporary shelters. The current events are being compared to the Delhi floods of 2023. An official stated, "Situation is under control, there is nothing to panic," and mentioned the water level is expected to recede. To manage the flow, all 32 gates of the ITO barrage have been opened. The rise in the river is attributed to water released from the Hathnikund barrage following heavy rain in the mountains. A flood alert has been issued for Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh.
