Unlike traditional AI, agentic AI operates with near-root permissions, merging services and bypassing standard encryption protections. These AI models don’t run entirely on-device, meaning sensitive personal data is constantly processed on cloud servers, creating potential security vulnerabilities. Secure messaging apps could also be compromised, as AI agents would need to read and summarize messages, weakening encryption safeguards.

Experts warn that the “bigger is better” AI model could lead to an even greater surveillance-based AI ecosystem, prioritizing data collection over user privacy. As AI assistants become more integrated into daily life, the question remains: Are we giving up too much control over our personal data?
