At Business Chamber Queensland's July Business Connect event in Brisbane, Play Hard Sports owner Trevor Bowman lifted the lid on what it really takes to participate in procurement for major events.

Having landed his sporting equipment in elite venues including Sydney Olympic Park, Robina Stadium and as part of the XXI Commonwealth Games, Trevor shared practical advice for Queensland businesses to prepare for opportunities in the lead up to Brisbane 2032 and beyond, including:

Participating in procurement for major events is not only about direct revenue, but also an opportunity to make connections, cement your brand, and grow your business,
Winning a tender and supplying a product or service only makes up part of the time commitment required, there’s meetings, administration, negotiations, and contract execution that should not be underestimated in terms of time and effort for businesses,
Delivering on major contracts will place a strain on BAU and a plan for resourcing and delivery is an absolute must,
There is a wealth of opportunities that sit beyond the major contracts which are easier to access to small and medium sized businesses, and lastly
Be creative and don’t give up.
