Thousands of Palestinians paraded in Gaza on Saturday, celebrating the eighth anniversary of the declaration of Independence made by Palestinian leaders in Algiers.
The parade culminated three days of festivities, treated by many Palestinians as the celebration of independence from Israel which they feel is imminent, as negotiators have been trying to thrash out final details of a peace agreement with the Jewish state.
Addressing the gathering in Gaza, Palestinian President Yasser Arafat said the campaign to make Jerusalem Palestinian would also continue.
