Sunday, July 1, 1984. 14th Annual Los Angeles Gay Pride Parade. "Unity and More in ''84" was the theme. Very poor quality footage I shot with my enormous '80s home videotape camera. The location is the corner of Santa Monica Blvd. & Sweetzer in West Hollywood. 1984 was the year West Hollywood would be officially incorporated into Los Angeles County (in November) as an independent City. Mamie Van Doren, one of the first Hollywood personalities to lend her name to the fight against AIDS, appears briefly at the start of the video. In 1987 she would return as Grand Marshal of the 17th Annual LA Gay Pride Parade.
