Torosaurus was one of the largest horned dinosaurs, living during the Late Cretaceous period about 66 million years ago. This massive ceratopsian is famous for its enormous skull, among the longest of any land animal, stretching up to 8.5 feet (2.6 meters). With its two large brow horns and a huge frill full of openings, Torosaurus used its headgear for defense, display, and possibly thermoregulation.

Fossils have been found in North America, particularly in the United States. Torosaurus shared its environment with Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus rex, and other late Cretaceous giants. Some paleontologists debate whether Torosaurus was actually a fully grown form of Triceratops, but many still consider it a distinct genus.

Torosaurus represents the final chapter of the horned dinosaurs before the great extinction event that ended the age of dinosaurs.
