In the summer of 2000, City looked forward to a new season under the recently appointed Brian Little's stewardship. Except they would've had former chairman and owner of Boothferry Park not locked the gates of the ground, citing that City's Sheffield based asset stripping board owed £100k of unpaid rent. Buchanan disputed this and eventually the matter was resolved although with the club also being under a transfer embargo at the time, it proved to be a sign of things to come over the course of that season....
