Since DeMarre Carroll is getting paid fifteen million dollars this season (with the consensus being that he isn't quite worth that much money) and this is the last season of his deal, I believe that confluence of events results in him being a "trade asset" due to being an "expiring contract". Right now I'm just regurgitating things I've seen in other places because I don't understand how contracts work. At all. All I know is that something magical happens that turns a contract like Carroll's, which is an unequivocally bad contract, into a good contract that teams are willing to trade for.

Isn't that crazy? That sounds like real crazy talk, but I'm telling you, it's true. Anybody who knows their stuff will tell you that it's true. Bad contracts become good just because they're in their last year. I only believe it because I've seen it happen. I've seen these "unmovable" contracts get moved with no problem.

Since Carroll is an "expiring" who is allegedly a prime trade target, I think that the Raptors should try to re-acquire him. They already have Kawhi Leonard, who's like an overpaid, worse version of Carroll who brings drama with him, but they could just bench him and start Carroll, who does the same things (shooting, defense) but does them better. I seem to remember that Raptors fans were especially fond of Carroll during his two seasons up in Canada, so it stands to reason that they would love to seem him back on the Dinosaur Team. Does Carroll for Anunoby, VanVleet, and Siakam work?
