#FreeSamanYasin: Incarcerated rapper, Saman Yasin, speaks out from Rajai Shahr Prison, highlighting the uncertainty and injustice surrounding his situation. Nearly ten months since his arrest, he’s yet to understand the charges against him.

According to Yasin, Judge Salavati has denied him the basic right of legal representation, not permitting him to choose a lawyer or his assigned counsel to review the case. A clear violation of his human rights.

#SamanYasin, known for using his art to voice societal pain, denies any criminal conduct and refutes any political affiliations. He was arrested amidst the nationwide protests in Tehran on October 2, 2022.

Accused of severe charges including “waging war against God and acting against national security,” he was sentenced to death, a sentence later overturned by the Supreme Court. His case still hangs in the balance, awaiting reexamination.

In his plea, Saman Yasin implores us not to forget him. We echo his call and stand in solidarity with him. His voice, and the voices of others in his situation, must not be silenced.
