Second-grade students at Burgess-Peterson Academy in Atlanta are learning how to spell words with '-dge' and '-ge', like "budge" and "stage." In this lesson, teacher Marlene Gannaway and reading coach Carla Stanford help students decide which way to spell the /j/ sound at the ends of different words. Students learn to think about the type of vowel sound in the word and make their decision accordingly.
