Exact location of events unknown.

World War One. Disabilities. Disabled veterans hosted by Lord Cheylesmore; at country estate. Opens with shot of kids having a tug of war--girls in long dresses pulling on rope; as several men watch. Shot of disabled men getting out of cars. Smiling man with a cane walks with difficulty. CU Men walk by to right. CU Boys ditto. Man helping others down from automobile. CU short bit of man holding rope; other men; young girls stand near. CU Young woman in white dress tries to strike a match to light a cigarette for a veteran with no arms (one arm has a hook; the other sleeve is empty); it takes several attempts to get it lit; which is sort of a tragicomic moment. Man exits; girl stands looking toward camera. Then it appears as if she vanishes! CU Priest (slightly sinister looking); with young men & women a few steps behind. Some of this is very sad and depressing stuff.
