This song is a masterpiece and continues to enthrall. Rage, passion and tragedy are all packed into the song in K Asif’s 1960 epic masterpiece. An anthem for thwarted lovers everywhere, was performed to excellent effect by Kathak dancer Rithika who twirled to the song with aplomb, elegantly and beautifully sung by Anita Sheik in this music video.

A range of instruments collaborates in this song – sitars, shehnai and violins, all fading into a pleasant hum as the dancer departs.
