"If these trees could choose ... they too will benefit" (Bhaddhiya Sutta) - Nadeesha Wijesinha

The title is based on a quote from the Buddha; in Bhaddhiya Sutta in A.N Book of Four, Sutta No. 193. The Buddha during a discussion with Licchavi Bhaddiya points to some Sal trees and says "if these trees were able to choose" - referring to 'had they had a mind' -they too could have been able to achieve "hithaya-sukhaya" - well-being and happiness.
The indication herein is that humans have the potential if they harness their minds skillfully to transform themselves, and even attain liberation from all sufferings. (1)

After reflecting on this inspirational statement that conveys the potential of the Human mind the presentation leads on to include Ajahn Cha's explanation of the Mind as having the two facets of "Knowing" i.e Awareness; and "Flowing" i.e Thinking.

(1) The above statement by the Buddha was in response to Licchavi Bhaddiya's question on whether the accusation by some teachers that the Buddha had "magical powers" to transform persons towards his doctrine was true.
