Convolver is more than just a lush library of real world reverbs. It can do splonky, gloopy, piyowey sounds too. Or you could take the factory impulse responses and use them as samples in Phase Plant – we've made a kind of snare-ish sound out of them in this video, but you could get all sorts of percussion out of them, or use them to excite filters or resonators, or have them audio-rate modulate other stuff. You can also use the existing Phase Plant factory samples in Convolver, in case you didn't know. They aren't all equally optimised for use as IRs, but a lot of the ones with plenty of high frequencies are good, like cymbals, vocals, ambiences, and so on.

You could try using Convolver to make some unusual delays happen, including time-modulated delays without the usual pitch-shifting. Or use noise to excite the IRs for a washy noisescape, complete with weird and wonderful resonances.

Finally, we tried something especially stupid – recording the same line of singing twice, with the first take used as an impulse response for convolving the second. It's possible to imagine a scenario in which that could sound good... right?
