Isis - Weight (All Instrument Cover)

Here's part two of my sequence of covers from Isis' 2002 record Oceanic, to me, the centerpiece of the record and definition of post metal, the nearly 11 minute track Weight! This song is a master class in building up intensity over the course of several minutes initially through guitar feedback and drums and bass soaked in reverb and delay, followed by building layers of distorted guitars with the drums ratcheting up intensity with each new layer. The end result is a peak release of heaviness that when it hits at the end, you almost can't believe how gentle the beginning of the tune was.

Fun fact for filming, because of the location of the guitar amp in my basement, even though I recorded the length minute intro of guitar feedback, the video footage was just not particularly interesting even though I had fun tracking it, so it was omitted! Fun fact number 2, since I'm so pitchy when singing vocals, I omitted the footage of me tracking the vocals with a mic in my right hand and playing along the melody on a keyboard with my left hand! I think I shredded my mind tracking that, but the vocals were less pitchy than some previous recordings I've done!
