The Triple Paradiddle Rudiment - The Triple Paradiddle, another member of the Paradiddle Family of Rudiments consists of 16 notes instead of the previous 8 and 12 notes of the Single and Double Paradiddles. This one has 6 pairs of taps or single strokes (PARA) (PARA) (PARA) and two pairs of double strokes (DIDDLE). Eventhough the sticking is RLRLRLRR LRLRLRLL, there are actually 4 different strokes in the Triple Paradiddle - The first is a controlled (accented) stroke, followed by 4 single stroke taps, then an upstroke followed by the last two notes which are doubles or taps. Focusing on the stroke before the doubles (the upstroke) is once again key in mastering playing the Triple Paradiddle at faster tempos.

The Triple Paradiddle is 16 notes long and is felt and counted as 32nd notes in this variation. You can play with this one as 16th notes on your kit as well and you can also have some fun with it by moving the accent around and trying it in various combinations on your toms and cymbals as well. As with all rudiments, start slowly and have fun with this one!
