Welcome to my channel! I'm Katie Lee Hornberger, a certified genetic counselor specializing in fertility and reproductive medicine. In today's video, we're diving into the topic of chemical pregnancy-

You may have heard the terms biochemical pregnancy and chemical pregnancy used interchangeably. Essentially, it's an early pregnancy loss, typically occurring within the first five weeks of pregnancy. It's marked by a positive pregnancy test followed by a subsequent period and declining HCG levels. In this video I show serial quantitative hCG levels in typical pregnancies and in chemical pregnancies as well as line progressions on drug store tests.

We'll delve into the science behind HCG levels, how they're expected to rise, and how home pregnancy tests can detect chemical pregnancies. Plus, I'll share personal insights into my own experiences with five losses, including one chemical pregnancy.
