On December 10th at 9AM AST the Forward Research & Innovation Summit 2021 will be held, a virtual event that will be focused on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. This completely free event is the summit of the Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust (PRSTRT) with the aim of accelerating scientific and technological activity on the island.

The event will feature panelists from the scientific community and experts in different scientific fields who will discuss topics such as the intersection of artificial intelligence with cybersecurity, integrated software for collaborative environmental planning, social benefits of artificial intelligence, uses of machine learning to advance global food security, among other topics focused on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

This year's keynote speaker will be Dr. Cynthia Rudin, Professor and Director of the Prediction Analysis Lab at Duke University. Dr. Rudin received the 2021 Squirrel AI Award from the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence for her work in the field of interpretable and transparent AI systems in real-world deployments, and her advocacy for these features in areas such as social justice and medical diagnosis.

In addition, during the summit different researchers, undergraduate and graduate students, and/or entrepreneurs will be presenting scientific posters on different science, technology and/or research topics. Also, the Bajari Award will be presented for the second time, an institutional recognition by nomination to recognize exceptional scientists on the island.

Participating in the Forward Research & Innovation Summit 2021 will allow participants to establish new collaborations and increase their network of contacts. In addition, it will allow you to explore the scientific and research activity on the island and learn about new trends in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
