He also said that India had to work hard to fulfill its destiny as a great nation.

Independence Day is celebrated every year on 15 August as a national holiday in India. People hoist the Indian flag, sing the national anthem, and remember the freedom fighters. The Prime Minister addresses the nation from the Red Fort and announces the achievements and goals of the government. There are also cultural programs, parades, and kite flying events in different parts of the country.
