Lier hospital formerly Lier Asylum and Lier Psychiatric Hospital
is located in Lier, Buskerud, and opened in 1926. The hospital
was initially comprised of a total of twelve buildings, but in 1985,
four of the buildings closed, and further more in the 1990s.
Today buildings H, C and G still is in operation.
As well as an administration building. The hospital is still used as
psychiatric hospital and clinic.
Between 1945 and 1974 tests were performed using LSD, lobotomy,
testing of new drugs, ECT treatment and studies with radioactive isotopes.
Lier hospital was one of the most active hospital in trials of new drugs
in Norway. Former workers have come forward and told about the
horrific conditionfor patients, such as isolation, prolonged use of belts,
straitjacked and general abuse.
Many patients suffered greatly there, and it`s said that a dark energy
lies over the place.
