hike in Val Gardena Dolomites: Loop Hike Around Sassolungo & Sassopiatto

The massive 10,436 ft Saslonch, Sassolungo or Langkofel is the highest mountain of the Langkofel Group in the Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy. The name translates to "long peak" / "long rock" in all three languages. It stands over the Ladin community of Val Gardena. Sassopiatto - Plattkoffel 9,741 ft. translates as flat stone, the two unique formations of the Langkoffel group that resembles conjoind twins attached in the middle. The focus of this "must do moderate hike" will be these two peaks as we do a complete circumnavigation of all sides of these striking formations that towering over Val Gardena and surrounding region. Starting and ending at Sella Pass, this diverse hike will bring us to many wonderful rifugios to stop, take in the view and refuel our well earned thirst an appitite.
