http://www.travelsignposts.com/German... At 2,962 metres (9,718 ft) high, Zugspitze is Germany’s highest peak. We first set eyes on Zugspitze last September when we were on top of the Tegelberg, near the town of Füssen. We didn’t have time to get to Zugspitze then, so it was fortuitous that on this trip that we were able to answer the call of Germany’s highest mountain and enjoy the marvellous views from the top of Germany.

Part 1 tells you all about the first stage of the trip, as we travel up as far as the Glacier on the cog railway, then take the Gletscherbahn (cable car) up to the peak.

Part 2 shows you the view from the top of Germany, as we explore the lookout at the summit, tells you how to get your very own photo taken in front of the final peak and put on line automatically (and for free), and takes a look at Germany's highest beer garden (spoiler: not much of a garden, really!).

Part 3 gives you a look at the alfresco spot to enjoy lunch or a snack on top of the Zugspitze, and checks out the view below to the glacier, then shows us fleeing down the mountain as storm clouds roll in over the peak, only to find - surprise! - sunshine at Garmisch (although the mountain was covered...).
