U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd seated in an open car outside the Union Station in Washington, DC. Seated with him are his father, Richard E. Byrd, Sr., his wife, Marie (Donaldson Ames) Byrd, and his son, Richard. They proceed with other cars and a motorcycle escort, from the station to the White House. In the White House garden, President Herbert Hoover presents Admiral Byrd an award in recognition of his exploits in Antarctica. Location: Washington DC. Date: June 1930.
