The title card is displayed as the camera's viewpoint descends from the sky, through masses of grey clouds and smoke.

Several scenes depicting wartimes are quickly shown. A deserted base and watchtower stand idle as a large explosion is set off in the distance. A naval fleet is seen next under heavy bombardment. A row of Marleyan soldiers, presumably from the mainland, all fire explosive shells from mortars.

For a split second, a structure resembling a large spine can be seen erupting from a crimson, fleshy background.

More explosives are set off in the background as the previous scenes begin to repeat - soldiers fire more shells from their mortars, the naval fleet is obliterated, and the military base from earlier is consumed by the oncoming blast. A soldier, armed with a flamethrower, begins burning the remains of a demolished structure. Scenes of large explosions continue to play.

The camera then pans down from the sky, revealing thirteen birds diving downwards with colorful strands trailing down their bodies.

A gray, occluded sky is shown as colorful smoke begins creeping in from the sides.

Colorless Marleyan soldiers with rifles begin marching in the next scene, with faces tilted towards the camera and bodies moving onward. A zeppelin hovers in the sky as twelve birds fly alongside it.

Scenes are then rapidly presented in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it fashion. A statue of a Titan falls from the sky into the grounds of a city, being shattered upon impact. A statue of a Marleyan soldier suddenly breaks. Three statues of Scout Regiment members, each armed with omni-directional mobility equipment and Thunder Spears, crumble in succession. Shots of birds, Marleyan soldiers, and zeppelins can all be seen being vaporized in a similar fashion.

Statues of Titans can be seen falling from the sky, heads aimed towards the ground as the world circles around them.

A large explosion appears seemingly out of nowhere in the distance. First, there is a close-up shot of the detonation. Then, the camera zooms out to capture the large shockwaves sent by the explosion - destruction completely upheaving the earth. In the following shots, debris flies from pillows of smoke and fire. As the previous moments continue and repeat, trees can be seen recoiling from the shockwaves. Rubble strikes the residential buildings of Liberio, destroying a spotlight tower in the process. A Wall collapses and the image of a castle-like structure disintegrates from the blast.

The action ends with the camera looking up to view rain falling from the skies, with the gray clouds now muddled with faint colors from the smoke. Raindrops hit a pool of water, creating intermittent ripples. The air takes on a colorful mist as the camera zooms in on an unmoving hand, raindrops landing in its open palm. The camera zooms out to reveal the aftermath of the destruction - the hand is among a large pile of bodies, wreckage, and broken pieces of ODM gear.

The final shot sees the Attack Titan reaching his hand outwards, leading a charge of Titans from the top of a colorless hill. The opening turns to black and ends after a close-up of the Attack Titan's face.
