Kazakhstan Food Tour | The very BEST and very WORST

Join us on a Kazakhstan Food Tour! We tried A LOT of food in Kazakhstan some of it was delicious, some of what ... well erm, lets just say we tried it! If you are from Kazakhstan, please feel free to share more foods with us in the comments, I bet people would love to hear about them!

If you are going to Kazakhstan it is worth knowing what food is available!

Here is the food that we mention in this video:

00:01:13 Plov (плов): Rice, veggies and meat. Can be a bit greasy and gristly. You can buy plov in many small street side cafes. I know we tried a cheap one.
00:02:12 Pasties (чебуреки): pastries containing meat, potato and the occasional stray vegetable. These can often be purchased from small street side stalls and bakeries.
00:02:28 Lepyoshka(лепёшка): Fresh round bread usually baked in small street side bakeries. Cheap and tasty!
00:02:48 Shashlik (шашлык): BBQ meat skewers. Our favourite place in Almaty was Esmerelda (Rozybakeva and Basinova street) Prices range from 250 - 800 tenge per skewer (50p-£1.40)
00:03:49 Beshbarmak(бешбармак): Noodles, mildly spiced meat and some veggies depending on the version. May contain horse meat.
00:05:27 Kumis(кумыс): Fermented mares milk… mmmmm… sometimes served with kurd balls.
00:08:00 Sushi! Not a traditional Kazakh dish - but you can get great sushi in Almaty :-)
