Live from Harlem – JFA Presents: The Pandemic Trio – Sacha Perry, Renaud Penant, Daniel Duke

Описание к видео Live from Harlem – JFA Presents: The Pandemic Trio – Sacha Perry, Renaud Penant, Daniel Duke

Born in August 2020 out of a decade-long musical friendship, the Pandemic Trio was organically born and started growing up at a time when the rest of the world was pretty much stuck, due to the coronavirus pandemic. They started streaming out of Renaud Penant’s music room every Sunday at noon, providing much needed cultural entertainment to American and European audiences, made possible by unemployment income and tips from all over the world. When after a while it grew unsustainable, the Jazz Foundation stepped in and its generosity carried the next growing phase, until venues started reopening and playing live was again possible. Anchored by Sacha’s encyclopedic knowledge, musical virtuosity and underrated composing skills, the trio’s focus is squarely set on three giants of modern African music: Thelonious Monk and his younger friends Bud Powell and Elmo Hope, alongside some of Sacha’s intricate compositions. This music is only alive because of the deep and lasting passion it ignites in its practitioners, and the trio’s only goal is to play whatever part it can in this now-worldwide labor of love!

Band:
