The Aboriginal Plant Trail at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mount Coot-Tha Road, Toowong is a self-guided tour that provides information on the way plants were used by some Aboriginal people.

This weekend, we explored through the rainforest trail, which was both an educational and immersive journey.

The trail took us through the Australian rainforest, the oldest section in the Botanic Gardens, where plants used for medicine, food and shelter can be seen. The path is easily navigated, and signposts provide information on how these plants were (and still are) used.

With an increasing use of Australian bush foods in cooking here and overseas, this is a good way to start your investigation.

The Brisbane Botanic Gardens are open from 8.00am to 5.00pm daily, and entry to the gardens is FREE. The Aboriginal Plant Trail takes about thirty minutes to complete, or longer, if you really want an immersive experience.

The lovely staff at the Visitor Centre will help you with maps and directions.
