Running 100 Miles: The Western States Journey

Getting It Done, My Eight Year Journey

It was a long hot day but when I finally reached the track I couldn't believe my 8 year journey to Western States was coming to an end.

It all started reading the book Born to Run in 2010 which led me to my first 100 miler at Leadville in 2014. Then Javelina 100 in 2015.

I remembered the bear that my pacer and I ran into just before no hands bridge during Rio Del Lago 100 race 2016. Then running on the mesas at Zion 100 in 2017. Tripping over a cow who was sleeping on the trail during the scenic trail 100 race in 2018 and sharing an ice cream with a fellow runner at Mozart 100 race in 2019. So many stories.

I would like to take this time to thank my crew Will and Anne , my pacer Hannah and of course my wife Jodi who was with me every step of the way.

And lastly I would like to give a special thank you to my greatest running partner ever who sadly passed away in 2022. He never refused a run no matter what the weather and that's our dog Presley, I'm sure I made him proud.
