A Little History:
The festival came from two words of origin. One was named after the spanish sailor "Ferdinand Magellan", and two was the Manila-Acapulco(Mexico) "Galleon" trade since the town have Bagatao Island that is well-known to be the largest shipbuilding, ship repair, and ship resupply in the Bicol Region during the Spanish colonial Era. The town was also known to have the very first Christian mass in the Luzon mainland conducted by an Augustinian priest named Fray Alonzo Jimenes in the last quarter of 1569.
