Playback Roast Profiles on Aillio Bullet - Tips and Problems

Aillio Bullet is an excellent coffee roasting machine for both serious enthusiast and small roast professional. One of the most amazing things it can do is "play back" a successful previous roast... so you can basically let the machine change temperatures, fan and drum speed, timings etc, all automatically, based on a previous roast of your own, or a roast that some other person created and shared with you. Amazing idea and it works very well... but I had two failed attempts at using the Playback feature, and in trying to understand why, I found what I believe to be a large inconsistency of logic, and also found 3 or 4 slightly different step by step methods to start Playback mode properly. This video doesn't really detail the inconsistency, but talks more about what causes the roast Playback to not occur as well as the ways to make it work.

1/ Set your Pre-heat temperature on the Bullet
2/ Choose the roast you want to Playback and go to Actions then Playback
3/ there’s now a popup in the Top right corner, click to go to “start roasting” (it’s not roasting, its actually pre-heating, but I get the point)
4/ In centre screen, click Start Pre-heat
5/ Wait for Preheat to reach the voice “Charge” command
6/ Charge Bullet with beans
7/ Roast will automatically start

00:41 This big inconsistency is that to start the Playback, you have to set your Pre-Heat temperature MANUALLY. But if you then go on to MANUALLY start your actual Pre-Heat, and then start your Playback, the Playback will not happen, and you may end up with a hot drum filled with expensive green beans, with no roast profile happening... Really, if you are to manually enter the preheat temp on the machine, then you should be able to start preheat on the machine and simply continue the Playback on the RoastTime software on your PC. RoastTime should be smart enough to enter Playback whether you are pre-heating from the Bullet's Control Panel or from RoastTime. Also, when your machine says OFF, RoastTime should not prevent you from entering Playback for a subsequent roast.
