Sonic and Shadow Celebrate My 30th Birthday with Me via Cameo (feat. Jason Griffth)

Jason Griffith was the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog and his rival, Shadow starting with the anime series, Sonic X. He went on to portray them in the games until 2010 when Roger Craig Smith and Kirk Thornton succeeded him, but man, is he still fantastic. He can get into character just as easily as turning a light switch on and off. His ability to play out a scene of Sonic singing to me and a bitter Shadow reluctantly joining in is a testament of Jason's talent and that's why he is beloved by the series' fandom. The fact that he filmed this Cameo outdoors made me feel special and that being greeted by Sonic through Roger's predecessor is one of the perks of existing for three decades. ^_^

The way I matured growing up playing the Sonic games is the lore behind the Chaos Emeralds got me interested in collecting crystals and educating myself on the roles they play in mythology from different cultures across the world. It turns out I'm not alone in my fondness of them because crystals inspired scholars and writers for centuries. It, to my misfortune, earned Shadow's ire that I took the fourth Chas Emerald. I'm glad I didn't tell him that I have them all. 👀 (Disclaimer: they're not real. They're synthetic crystal replicas I got from Etsy when I was still in college.)

If I were to tell my nine-year-old Sonic-obsessive self that Sonic was going to say hello one day, he would've waited by the nearest outdoor pool he could find in the hope he'd save him from drowning. Or demand me to escort him to one. 😂
