Antoine Cully is an Associate Professor at Imperial College London and the director of the Adaptive and Intelligent Robotics Lab. His research focuses on how learning algorithms can enable robots to adapt to unexpected damage, making them more resilient in complex environments. While robots have transformed industries like manufacturing, their fragility in real-world scenarios like search and rescue or healthcare has been a major obstacle. In this video, Antoine will explore the amazing potential of using Quality-Diversity algorithms, which allow robots to explore their full range of capabilities and find adaptive solutions to damage. He will also discuss how these algorithms enhance robotics and open doors to discoveries in materials, proteins, game design, and beyond.
