A quick, simple walkthrough and on the water test of my new Garmin Striker 4CV Fish Finder, installed on my 2019 Vibe Seaghost 130. This unit is compact with a 4” screen and has Traditional CHIRP and CearVu technology. The Garmin unit bodes plenty of features in a small package, and is a great option if you are considering mounting a finder to your kayak given its size and simplicity.

Vibe Kayaks did a great job designing features that make installing a fish finder on their boats relatively intuitive and easy. There are a number of different considerations when mounting a fish finder to your boat – what unit to buy, where to place it, how to power it, what holes to cut, what materials to use?

Hopefully this video will help fellow Vibe Seaghost kayak owners looking to add a fish finder to their boat get an idea about how to do a simple and clean install to mount the fish finder unit and power the finder without tearing apart your boat. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below!

Drill Bits – For Cable Entry Cover Provided by Garmin:
1/8” Drill Bit for Set Screws (2x screws included with Cable Entry Cover)
1/2”-5/8” Drill Bit for Main Cable Entry Cover Hole (I used 1/2” bit because it wasn’t clear in the instructions at first what size to use, but after reviewing the manual per Garmin, a 5/8” bit is recommended to pass the 4 pin power cable thru the cable cover that is mounted on top of the Seaghost heatch. I would recommend starting with drilling a 1/2” bit for your primary hole and thenworking to the next, larger bit size to ensure proper seating and secure fit of the cover. I used the Marine Adhesive on the bottom of the cover and on the threads of the 2 screws before securing the cover and wiped off excess adhesive with a wet rag)
