The 1. e4 e5 opening in chess is the most popular way to start a game of chess by far. This chess opening is called an Open Game or Double King's Pawn Opening, and it means that the first move in the game is the e pawn moved to e4 by White, followed by Black's e pawn to e5. It is one of the most popular openings and there is a reason why 1.e4 e5 is in fashion: fundamentals., it immediately stakes a claim in the center, and frees two pieces to jump into the game, leading to many options to follow... Double King's Pawn openings offer Black a solid center, space to develop their pieces, and flexibility for their middlegame plans. It is not evident how White can get an advantage, and as the tension grows in the position, the more chances for Black to take over.

This Short & Sweet course video will provide you with everything GM David Anton loves about 1.e4 e5: space, comfortable play, a safe path to equality, and attacking chances. Let him teach you the basics of 1.e4 e5: the best squares for your pieces, typical plans, and how to launch a direct attack as Black. You will see how he faces the Spanish Game, its deviations, and his recipes against the Italian, the Scottish, and some common gambits.

But above all, it is an excellent opportunity to learn chess with one of the best players in the world. Beyond the theory behind 1.e4 e5, you will discover typical maneuvers that can serve you in any middlegame.
